OC Supervisor John Moorlach to Appear Today

Sorry for the last minute post here, but I just received word that Supervisor John Moorlach will be on the show today.  We will be talking all things Orange County, especially the budget.

Tune it at 5 pm today!!!

My Condolences to Beth Krom

Tragically Irvine city councilwoman Beth Krom’s 22 year old son died in Santa Barbara over the weekend.  He was a graduating senior at UCSB.  My thoughts and prayers are with Beth and her family.

May 29th Show is Up

Thanks again to R. Scott Moxely over at the OC Weekly for his great article on the show.  I spoke about the article and of course I spoke about our good friend, Michael Schroeder.

I also spoke about the California budget and hate speech by Muslims against Jews here at UCI.

You can listen to today’s show and a vintage interview I did all the way back in 2005 with Susan Kang Schroeder here.

The Show Featured In OC Weekly!

Who would you trust?
R. Scott Moxely did a brief expose on the show in this week’s issue of the OC Weekly.  I suppose I have really pissed off the Schroeder’s now.  Funny how Schroeder says he knows nothing about me, but yet his wife Susan Kang Schroeder sat three feet away from me for an hour while we chatted on the air a few years back.  Stay-tuned, I am dusting off the interview as we speak and will post it for your listening  pleasure.

Wisckol Fails To Mention Schroeder and the Continuing Loss of Credibility

Just clicked onto Martin Wiskol’s blog, Total Buzz over on the OC Register’s website.  Funny, Wiskol talks about a new recall effort against Assemblyman Jeff Miller and then goes on to say, “Democrats have been snickering – and some Republicans rolling their eyes – since two Orange County GOP politicos started a campaign to recall Assemblyman Anthony Adams, R-Hesperia, for backing the tax hikes after making a pledge not to support any more taxes.”

What?  No mention of Michael Schroeder who has been on KFI’s John and Ken for the past several weeks touting his role in the recall of Anthony Adams.  Why do you suppose that is?  Do you not think it is newsworthy for Wiskol to tell us who is behind the Adams recall?  Or is this recall business now such an embarrassment to the OC GOP and Schroeder that Wiskol is doing Schroeder a favor by not putting his name in the post?

Schroeder is the ruthless, long time OC Kingmaker, and political consultant/lawyer/spokesperson to convicted felon, about to go to prison, former Sheriff Mike Carona and DA Tony Rackauckas.

Let’s not forget that it’s Schroeder’s brainchild to rehabilitate his badly tarnished image via the recall of Anthony Adams.  Let us also not forget that Wiskol has frequently quoted Schroeder over the years, most probably uses him as a source, and has even produced a nice puff piece series on him as well.  And finally, who could forget that Schroeder was blogging for the OC Register during the recent Republican National Convention in Denver…essentially formalizing the quid pro quo between the OCR and Schroeder.

But even more interesting now is what I am seeing in the LA Times.  It’s as if they are reading my blog and having the same “Aha” moment as me.  Yesterday Dana Parson’s did a piece on Sheriff Sandra Hutchens where the Sheriff openly throws Schroeder under-the-bus as one of her biggest detractors.  And it gets even better today.  There is an editorial in the LA Times discussing how the establishment in The OC is leading the charge against the re-election of Hutchens in 2010.

The editorial describes how the establishment put Hutchens in power as an anti-Carona.  Now that same establishment, led by Michael Schroeder, wants her gone because they obviously cannot control her.  But the LA Times pulls no punches.  In a stinging rebuke of Schroeder and his wife Susan Kang Schroeder the Times goes on to say this

“Then a spokeswoman for Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas insinuated that the Sheriff’s Department fostered an institutional “code of silence” in which deputies protected other deputies from accusations of abuse. It’s worth taking that with a grain of salt: The spokeswoman is the wife of Mike Schroeder, a former consultant to Carona.”

What????  I’m not the only one who sees the connections as well.  When you’re right, you’re right, and I’m right.  Again.

Tell California What You Think

VOTE!!!!!

Are You Ready To Recall?!

“The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.” - Joseph Goebbels, Nazi propoganda minister

I just finished listening to Michael Schroeder on the Thursday May 7th edition of KFI’s John and Ken show talking about the Anthony Adams recall.  Schroeder is heading up the latest Republican cannibalization ceremony.  Listening to him talk made me think of something.  Should we really trust Michael Schroeder, a man who for 9 years defended, enabled, and protected the now disgraced, convicted felon, former sheriff Mike Carona, to tell us Anthony Adams is a bad guy who deserves to be recalled?  I mean really, why should the citizens of Orange County care about Adams, whose 59th district is no where near the OC?

Frankly, I am more than a little suspect of who Schroeder wants to install into Adams’ slot…Dick Mountjoy.  Wow, now that sure is moving forward for for the Republican party in the 21st century.

Remember what this is for Schroeder folks.  It’s not about who sits in Adams’ seat.  It’s about remaking Schroeder’s badly tarnished image as a ruthless kingmaker into something more warm and fuzzy.  He’s trying to become a populist.  Someone for the little guy.  An average Joe, just like you and me, fighting the “Man”.  Don’t be fooled, it’s all smoke and mirrors.  He’s just using John and Ken’s 50,000 watt signal to speak directly to Orange County.

However, you cannot “remake” what has taken years to carefully create.

Michael Schroeder is and always shall be the same guy who for 9 years stood behind convicted felon Mike Carona.  He is and always shall be the same guy (along with his husband - no typo - Susan Kang Schroeder), who for almost 10 years continues to stand behind District Attorney Tony Rackauckas.  He is and always shall be the guy who was shallow enough to sue his own mother.  He is and always shall be the guy who trounced all over Janet Nguyen because she didn’t do “thy bidding”.  He is and always shall be the same guy who shookdown via lawsuit HB Mayor Debbie Cook, who was running against his beloved Dana Rohrabacher, for her use of the title “Mayor” on the ballot.  He is and always shall be the same guy who, when he beat Wally Wade and destroyed his career over the D.A. election, sent Wally via a messenger, his business card…to rub it in.

Schroeder is a man who yields enormous power here in the OC.  With the help of his small, yet close cadre of consultants, pollsters, bloggers, and party bosses, Schroeder gets to decide who runs on the Republican ticket…and most importantly who gets destroyed.  The irony is simple, we can recall Adams because he is elected and answers to the public.  Schroeder, however, is a private citizen with dictatorial powers.  He answers to no one.  He is above the public, the politicians, and the judges he puts into power.  No one can recall Michael Schroeder.

Is that really what makes for a healthy democracy and a revived Republican party?  Are you really going to get the best and the brightest when one man’s decision is based on his needs and not on what is best for the public in Orange County?  Do we really want one man to have influence and control over both the D.A.’s office and the Sheriff’s Department?  If you look to the last 9 years of Tony Rackauckas and Mike Carona the answer becomes clear.

Friday’s Show is Posted

You can listen to Friday’s Proposition voter-guide show here.  As promised on the show, here is a link to Steve Greenhut’s column on the May propositions that is cynical yet informative.  In addition, I found a good voter guide from the Union Tribune down in San Diego.  It’s pretty easy though, NO on 1A thru 1E, and I’ll leave you to your own devices on 1F.

Also I was pleased to hear the judge in the disgraced, convicted felon, former sheriff Mike Carona’s criminal case denied him bail for his appeal.  You can read what the judge had to say here.  Off to jail for Carona and the “Little Sheriff” starting July 24th.

Finally, it’s official…Republicans are happier than Democrats.  I could have told you that.

May 15th Proposition Show

It’s that time of year again, when the dirty filthy politicians ask us to vote for their repulsive propositions.  It’s once again my job to help you wade through the garbage and decide how to vote.

Also, some updates on the Jaramillo case and what’s up with OC District Attorney’s feud with the OC Sheriff?

And finally, is Bill Hunt going to run for Sheriff again and what does that mean for Santa Ana Police Chief Paul Walters and Michael Schroeder?

The May 1st Show

The fund drive show went very well.  Unfortunately we had no callers to donate, but all is not lost.  You can still donate by calling 949-824-5824 or going to www.kuci.org and clicking on the donate link.

Yesterday’s show was great as always.  Be sure to listen in as I spoke about the Carona verdict, specifically what the judge had to say to Carona about his behavior.  Also Attorney Kate Corrigan was on the show so I could personally thank her for the very generous $500.00 donation she gave to KUCI.

I went over the propositions in the May special election.  Very easy.  VOTE NO on all of them!

Finally, will the Schroeders try to destroy me?  Listen to what I have to say about that one.
